NCJW is a tireless advocate for the enactment and enforcement of laws and regulations that protect civil rights and individual liberties for all. Throughout its history, NCJW has fought for public policies that promote equal rights, end discrimination, and encourage opportunities for people of all backgrounds. Today that fight continues as NCJW seeks stronger hate crimes legislation, equal rights for same-sex couples, and the enactment and enforcement of laws and regulations that preserve civil liberties and civil rights for everyone.
NCJW is a member of the Illinois Coalition for Fair Courts (ICFFC). Coalition supporters work to bring awareness to the local community about egregious federal judicial court nominees.
NCJW is an organizational member of the Illinois Campaign for Better Health Care. Quality, comprehensive, nondiscriminatory healthcare coverage and services that are affordable and accessible for all is a principle resolution of NCJW. NCJW, along with over 100 other diverse organizations, fought for passage of the Health Care Justice Act of 2004 (HB 2268). The Act creates a process to achieve affordable and accessible health care in Illinois. It instructs the General Assembly to enact a health care access plan by December 31, 2006 and to implement it by July 1, 2007.
