26th 7-9 pm NCJW Next Generation 10 Year Anniversary Please join us for the 10 year anniversary of NCJW’s Next Generation. Enjoy catching up with friends old and new. Please bring your favorite chocolate dessert (or fruit) and we’ll supply the wine. We will also be holding our second accessories swap. Bring your gently used jewelry, handbags, belts, or scarves and swap with your friends. All leftover donations will be donated to Encore and More. Feel free to bring a friend you would like to introduce to NCJW! Please contact Karen Coplan at 847-853-8889 or richkar@ameritech.net to let us know you’ll attend. The event will be held at a member’s home in Lake Forest – address to be provided upon RSVP. Also, please let us know what you would like to bring.

11th 2:00 pm "Women Unchained" Viewing and Panel Discussion, Join NCJW at the Spertus Center, 610 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, for a viewing of Women Unchained, an important new film documenting the experiences of modern-day “agunot,” women whose husbands refuse to grant them a Jewish divorce. Shot in New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles and Israel, Women Unchained includes illuminating interviews with leading women’s rights advocates, rabbis and experts. Panel Discussion will include Sharon Shenhav, Director of the International Jewish Women’s Rights Project in Israel. Individual tickets purchased directly through Spertus are 18$, however, NCJW North Shore Section has a limited number of 10$ group tickets available. Order online at www.ncjwcns.org. After February 26, tickets will need to be purchased directly through Spertus ($10 Spertus members, $18 non-Spertus members, $8 students, online at spertus.edu or by phone at 312-322-1773. In addition, as a special treat for NCJW members and friends, you can join NCJW and Ms. Shenhav for a pre-screening talk at noon at Artist's Cafe, 412 S. Michigan, Chicago. Lunch will be available to purchase. Please RSVP for the pre-screening talk when you purchase your tickets.

11th 9:30 am Luggage for Freedom, is holding a collection drive on March 11 from 9:30 -11:30 a.m. at Extra Space Storage located at Extra Space Storage located at 1620 Old Deerfield Road in Highland Park. They will be collecting donations of new or gently used luggage (NO oversized or garment bags please), children's backpacks, purses and children's books, as well as NEW sheets, NEW towels, NEW toiletries and NEW stuffed animals to assist women and children leaving domestic violence shelters. 2nd 6-8 pm “The Status of Women & Girls in Illinois: Is it Getting Better?”, Deloite, 111 S. Wacker Dr., Chicago. Lt. Governor Sheila Simon will be the featured speaker at this NCJW Illinois State Policy Advo­cacy Committee program entitled, “The Status of Women and Girls in Illinois: Is it Getting Better?” There will be a social gathering time from 5:30pm. The Lieutenant Governor will be joined by sev­eral issue experts in the areas of: women in the workplace, women’s healthcare and comprehensive sex education. 5th 11:30 am NCJW 2012 Israel Benefit Luncheon, New York, NY Join us is New York for a very special occasion as we honor and celebrate NCJW’s Legacy in Israel: Past, Present, and Future. From Ship-A-Box to Yad B’Yad, from the NCJW Research Institute for Innovation in Education (RIFIE) to the NCJW Women and Gender Studies Program at Tel Aviv University, from our partnership with US/Israel Women to Women to NCJW’s Israel Granting Program, from NCJW’s Israel advocacy to our NCJW Women’s Mission to Israel, NCJW has made a difference for women, children, and families in Israel! This is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with your NCJW friends, make new connections, and see how you can make a difference in Israel today and ensure a strong and vibrant future!.
6th 4-7 pm Beth Emet Soup Kitchen: Chicago North Shore Section continues its collaboration with Beth Emet Synagogue's 'Project Hamotzi' to provide free meals to the area's homeless and working poor. NCJW members and a limited number of children (ages 5+) can volunteer to prepare and serve dinner, donate groceries, and pack bag lunches.
